Freshers Meet

A BIG THANK YOU to all those who helped on freshers day and Somerset weekend. Your help is very much appreciated by the entire club and hope to see you all again soon.
Freshers weekend went well, however we did find that a large proportion of our new members enjoyed caving! Does this mean we have recruited an entire cohort of young Keirs???? Only time will tell!!!!!!!

Unfortunately for the climbers the weather didn’t go so well on the Saturday however climbing on the Sunday at Bristol wall proved enjoyable by all!
My young inexperienced secretary did manage to loose two polish members at junction 8 of the M5 service station! (only noticed at junction 9) These two members were later found NOT at the service station BUT on the bus asleep at the back!!!!!!!!!!! Please rest assured he did receive a bitch slap for this!!!!!!

For the first time ever we had loads of cavers! It was decided by the committee that we should not make them hypothermic like our last trip of freshers down a cave so we attempted a dry cave which was enjoyed by all members of variable sizes! However to the walkers of the group surprise, they arrived back at the hut more muddier than the cavers!

Martin (new president) decided to cook a curry for a group of over 30 with the help of two incompetent/under trained females! This was a huge success with the overwhelming majority emptying their plates! Martin believes the success of this meal was due to him buggering off to the pub halfway!!!!!!!! He also noticed as a student nurse that there was no excessive demand for toilet paper!
However on a sour note we did for the first time ever did a “two brew” and crashed! Fortunately no one was injured accept the drivers pride! Most members who go away with us frequently will instantly think “what the hell did Crazy Dave do this time?” however this incident was done by the lanch’s very own resident paramedic, James Dinneen! BRING BACK CRAZY DAVE URGENTLY!!!!!!!!!
Saturdays night’s games went down a treat with the help of our assistant social secretary Jilly, who covered for our current social secretary whilst she recovers from major surgery. (Our best wishes go to Micki)
Anyway even with all the little ups and downs it appears all the freshers and returners had a great time!

Anyway lots of incident forms to fill in etc!!!! Hope to see MORE of you soon.
Martin
